Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP Attorneys and Guests “Glow” For Thumbuddy Special
For the third consecutive year, guests of Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP’s Medical Negligence and Healthcare Practice Group gathered on Thursday, September 22 in support of Thumbuddy Special, an Illinois-based non-profit organization that raises money to provide adaptive equipment for children with special needs.
Over 80 people, including legal, medical and insurance claims professionals and Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP attorneys, enjoyed an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dessert at ZED451 along with Thumbuddy Special volunteers and recipient children and their families. Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP Partner David J. Cahill is a member of Thumbuddy Special’s board of directors and initiated the affiliation between the firm and charity.
The firm included a twist to this year’s event by adding a “glow” theme. Upon arrival, guests were given a complimentary raffle ticket and glow-in-the-dark necklace. For every raffle ticket purchased, attendees received an additional glow-in-the-dark or neon item such as jewelry, hats, sunglasses, magic wands, swords and other toys.
“We certainly enjoy the opportunity to socialize and have fun with our guests, but it is the Thumbuddy Special children that make the evening so special,” said Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP Managing Partner Timothy G. Nickels. “Our guests enjoy interacting with families who are impacted by this wonderful organization and seeing what a difference their support can make.”
Once again the fundraiser’s silent auction and raffle featured two grand prizes – an Apple iPad 2, donated by U.S. Legal Support, and an LG 42-inch Plasma Flat Panel HDTV, donated by Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP with support from Abt. Two young Thumbuddy Special beneficiaries, Jesse and Franco, assisted firm attorneys in drawing the winning raffle tickets.
